JOB AND VOLUNTEER OPENINGS
OVERVIEW OF THE ORGANIZATION
Crescent Moon Theater Productions (CMTP) has been a Bay Area–based performing arts company since 2018, creating work that uplifts true stories of resilience, belonging, and the shared human spirit. Over the past several years, we’ve grown from a small ensemble of artists into a community-rooted nonprofit producing deeply meaningful documentary and immersive theater.
Most recently, we’ve received grant support for two major projects:
WHAT WE CARRY, a documentary theater production that brings together refugees and U.S. veterans impacted by the same conflicts, exploring healing and reconciliation through shared storytelling.
THE HIDDEN NETWORK, an immersive audio and performance project unfolding in California’s redwood forests. It reveals the forest’s living wisdom through the voices of ecologists, Indigenous knowledge keepers, and artists.
These projects have positioned us for an exciting next chapter — one that calls for highly motivated, adaptable, and collaborative Production Assistants and Board Development Volunteers to help drive the productions and organize the behind-the-scenes details.
This is a pivotal and creative moment for our organization. We’re ready to move from a grassroots model to a thriving nonprofit that can sustain meaningful, socially engaged art for years to come.
If this speaks to you — or if you know someone who might be the right partner in this stage of CMTP’s journey — we would love to connect. To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to polina@crescentmoontheaterproductions.com by November 23rd, 2025.
THE ROLES

About the Project
Crescent Moon Theater Productions is seeking a Tour & Production Manager to help bring What We Carry into the world.
What We Carry is a documentary theater work created with refugees, displaced civilians, wartime allies, and U.S. veterans shaped by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Built from years of interviews and restorative gatherings, it uses live performance, storytelling, movement, music, and community dialogue to explore the human cost of war — and to hold space for dignity, complexity, and reconciliation.
Bay Area premiere: Winter 2026 | East Coast tour: Spring 2027

The Role
This is a role for someone who loves both big-picture strategy and granular logistics. You'll shepherd an ambitious, socially engaged production from premiere through tour — securing venues, building presenter relationships, coordinating the moving pieces of a large-scale production, and helping ensure that the work reaches the audiences it was made for.
We're looking for someone proactive, collaborative, and genuinely moved by the intersection of art, live performance, and community.
Responsibilities
Research and secure venues across theater, university, festival, and alternative performance contexts
Conduct presenter outreach and track pricing, availability, specs, capacity, and logistics
Build relationships with presenting organizations, festivals, and touring partners
Coordinate travel, lodging, transportation, production schedules, and on-the-ground logistics
Manage contracts, budgets, timelines, and production calendars
Support communication across collaborators, venues, and creative partners
Support production logistics as they arise, including load-ins, technical rehearsals, and day-of coordination
Contribute to audience engagement planning and long-term touring strategy
Qualifications
Experience in theater production, touring, live events, or arts administration
Strong organizational and communication skills; comfortable managing multiple concurrent timelines
Fluent with spreadsheets, scheduling tools, and budget tracking
Self-directed, resourceful, and collaborative
Genuine interest in documentary theater, socially engaged art, or community-centered performance
Existing presenter or touring network connections are a plus
Position Details
Part-time contract | Remote-friendly (Bay Area preferred) | Compensation commensurate with experience
To Apply
Send a brief introduction, your resume or relevant experience, examples of tours or productions you've coordinated (if applicable), and a few words about why this project speaks to you.
